I create because I am curious. I have painted acrylic on canvas since 2008 and most recently have been exploring the technique of painting lines, individually, One at a time. It’s meticulous and exacting work. For the past two years I’ve been on an endeavor I call [ 10x10x10x10 ]. It’s a journey in
which I created 100 new 10”x10” acrylic on canvas paintings using this technique. In total it consists of 10,000 painted square inches of canvas. The entire collection uses my current palette of only 18 colors. Some works use all 18, others simply one. The body of work explores color relationships and adjacencies. It explores Line width, compression, scale and proportion. It explores mass and void.
The technique of painting Lines, individually, also creates this amazing inherent texture as the layers of painted Lines overlap and intersect with each other across the canvas.
I was raised outside of Chicago and trained and practiced as an Architect until 2008 when I began putting my thoughts and ideas onto painted
canvas. Currently I reside and paint in Las Vegas, NV.
